Found some keepers from the Brickyard Grand Prix practice day. If you look really closely, you'll see 2 former F1 drivers. Hint, both of their last names start with "B."
One of the F1 drivers is in the #77...
Doh.
The other former F1 racer is in the #4.
'Ello there.
The two Starworks cars together.
Kinja decided this picture shouldn't be next to the other picture of the off.

I've never realized how much these previews get compressed....click on expand. You'll be happy you did.

Except if you're clicking on a picture of an ugly Daytona Prototype car. ;)
Speaking of which, now that the two series have merged together, how long will the P2 and Prototype classes compete against each other? I miss P1 in the states already :(

They aren't the prettiest, but they grow on you a little bit I suppose. These look better than the first few generations of them.
I think that's going to be the case for awhile. Considering there were 3 P1 cars during the real ALMS season last year, and one of those was reconfigured to P2 spec for this year... If you want to see P1, go to Austin. Or Sebring right now, since the 919 Hybrid and R18 are testing this week.

They're (P1) going to practice, but not race? That's what I heard earlier. Audi did that a few years ago too.
I really don't mind the Prototype cars, but I really wish Bill France would have left the cars be and let them run as both classes had been speced before. I guess if he's writing the checks, then he gets to call the shots. It just makes me nervous when a racertainment series like NASCAR starts meddling like this.

Yeah, just there for some shakedowns.
You realize that would mean 6 classes of racing? There had to be some concessions, and ALMS did at least get to keep 2 of their 4 classes as they were.

I know compromises had to be made to make sports car racing viable in the US. I just didn't care for the way Bill France manhandled a lot of it, and wanted his spec series Daytona cars to be the top tier of the field.
Maybe I should just be happy that there's any kind of sponsored sports car racing in the US at all. ;)

There is that. I really hope they continue to works out some of the bugs that happened at Daytona, like the bogus yellow at the end.
